The Brag Media acquires new building for artist-first music venue

The Brag Media is moving up in the world.

The Sydney-based entertainment and media group has acquired a building in Marrickville which, in the near future, will become home to an artist-first music venue.

This new, as yet unnamed live music site is set to be an important revenue source and community hub for artists, and provide the ultimate afterparty jam venue for international touring artists.

The move in live entertainment follows the growth of The Brag Media as it looks to further the momentum in investing in artists and supporting the music community.

The multi-purpose venue will undergo an extensive refurbishment inside and out, which is expected to be completed in 12 months.

Its capacity is TBC but will be in the region of 150-300.

“The Brag Media has aimed to build a company at the centre of music, entertainment and culture,” says group CEO Luke Girgis. “This new venue will further extend our reach and support to fans, brands, but especially artists, as we have a new home for events, content and community.”

In time, the magazines within the Brag Media’s portfolio will relocate to the upper offices of the new facility.

These titles including Tone Deaf, The Brag, The Industry Observer, Don’t Bore Us and Rolling Stone Australia, a partnership with Rolling Stone’s parent company, Penske Media Corporation.

Earlier this year, RS Australia expanded its brand with the inaugural Sailor Jerry Rolling Stone Australia Awards, and, according to new Roy Morgan data on the national magazine market published, RS Australia bagged 152,000 readers in the year to March 2021, ahead of such staples Australian Golf Digest, Family Circle and Men’s Fitness.

Marrickville, a cool, inner-west Sydney suburb with a strong grassroots music community, is the perfect home for The Brag Media and its ambitions.
