Gaga Music Launches Distribution Venture
Gaga Music now has an in-house distribution service, Gaga Digi.
The independent music publishing and sync specialist today (April 8) unveils its latest venture, which is led by Alex Prudames, Gaga Music’s longtime sync and label manager.
“There was no ambition to be a label as such, more an additional service for our published songwriters,” explains company founder and director Grant Gillies in a statement.
“We were in a fortunate situation of landing Australian artists in TV ads around the world and we needed to make those songs available.”
The wider company, he continues, has been “placing music around the world for 15 years now, so we’re not really an aggregator with a sync department rather a sync department with an aggregation arm.”
As a digital aggregator, Gaga Music has worked with the likes of Courtney Barnett (pictured, below), King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, A. Swayze and The Ghosts.
Announced Friday, Gaga Digi adds Brightness, Florian, Angie Hudson, Matt Hsu, and Third Eye Stimuli Records to its digital distribution family.
Gaga Music launched the Sydney-based music services company back in 2007. Its new distribution offering will provide curated services across distribution and creative, all with the goal of creating “meaningful opportunities that elevate an artists’ release.”
According to a statement, Gaga Digi is active in release planning, scheduling and pitching, alongside sync representation both locally and abroad, plus an exclusive and efficient artist portal to handle all data management and royalties accordingly.
Gaga Digi “offers more than just distro, we’re a creative service too,” reads the blurb on company’s official webpage.
“We’re built to work with artists and labels on the planning, scheduling, pitching of releases and the cherry; sync representation for local and international opportunities.”
At launch, the business digitally distributes across all the major streaming, download and social network stores, including Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, and Tidal.
