Serenade rounds up investors Hugh Jackman, Dan Rosen, Nathan McLay and more
Serenade lands a number of high-profile investors, and names respected artist manager Iain Watt as Chairman of the tech company’s advisory board.
Announced overnight, a raft of music industry investors sign up, including Damian Christian of Atlantic Records; Reynold D’Silva of Silva Screen Records; Danny Rogers of Lunatic Entertainment; Paul Piticco and Jessica Ducrou of Splendour in the Grass/Secret Sounds; Jaddan Comerford of Unified Music; Nathan McLay of Future Classic, Dan Rosen of Warner Music Group; David Hancock of Afterpay and superstar Hollywood actor Hugh Jackman.
Also making an investment in the company is former Powderfinger frontman Bernard Fanning, one of Serenade’s early believers and Patron Artist.
Meanwhile, Watt, former YMU Managing Director, is appointed to lead the advisory board. He’ll head a group of fellow experts with a remit to steer the company and advise the business on its ongoing commercial and strategic activities, according to a rep.
“I have been an enthusiastic supporter since I first met (founder) Max Shand and he outlined his vision for the future on NFTs in the music industry,” comments Watt, an early investor in the company.
“I am delighted to be heading up the Serenade advisory board alongside some exceptionally talented people with whom I will be working to help the company fulfil its amazing potential.”
The brainchild of whizz kid Shand, Serenade launched in Australia during the height of the pandemic, in late 2020.
Its business model swiftly evolved into a fan-centric NFT platform, as Serenade made the leap into the U.K. market in 2021 with an inventory of digital music collectibles, including new and unreleased performances, to music, documentary footage, rare visuals and more.
Earlier this year, Shand’s business landed one of its biggest coups when it partnered with the Brit Awards for the annual industry event’s first-ever NFT collection.
“In the six months since we launched Serenade (in the U.K.) we have been blown away by the support we’ve received from artists, their representatives and the wider music industry,” says Shand, founder and CEO of Serenade.
“There is a clearly an enthusiastic demand for eco-friendly , easy-to-understand, artist and fan friendly NFTs and the fact that so many respected music and creative industry professionals have backed us with personal investments is humbling. With their support, guidance and expertise we are very excited about all the possibilities the future holds.”
