Vicinity Centres partners with Mahalia Barnes for concert series
Retail property group Vicinity Centres has partnered with Mahalia Barnes to launch new concert series, The Spotlight Series.
The Spotlight Series is a nationwide initiative which will see a lineup of local musicians, curated by Barnes, perform in local shopping centres around the country.
Some of the acts set to play the series are Barnes, Reece Mastin, Bonnie Anderson, Prinnie Stevens and Sarah McLeod.
Mahalia Barnes said the concert series will benefit both musicians and retail centres, two parties that have both been adversely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
“These last few years have been incredibly difficult for retailers and the music industry,” Barnes said.
“I’m excited to share the spotlight with a line-up of incredible local musicians as we bring the Spotlight Series to a number of shopping centres across Australia.”
David Henderson, marketing director of of Vicinity Centres, said the time was ripe to give chances to both musicians and the live music community at large.
“Our centres have a rich history in supporting communities across Australia. We felt now was the perfect time to give back to Australia’s music and arts scene in a big way and shine a light on some amazing homegrown talent,” Henderson said.
“We’re thrilled to bring the gift of music to our retailers, customers and local communities across Australia. Music is such a powerful way to bring people together and reconnect on a human and creative level after what has been a difficult time for retail, hospitality, music and the arts over the past couple of years. That’s why we believe our shopping centres is the perfect platform for the Spotlight Series.”
