Rolling Stone Australia reveals list of 200 greatest Aussie albums ever
Rolling Stone Australia has published its definitive list of the 200 greatest Australian albums ever made, with AC/DC’s 1980 classic Back In Black taking out the top spot.
The extensive list, which appears in its December issue out today, was compiled from a lengthy nomination process with over 800 industry figures.
Albums by John Farnham, Cold Chisel, Silverchair, Crowded House, Savage Garden, Kylie Minogue, Tame Impala, 5 Seconds of Summer and Dr G. Yunupingu also appear in the Top 20.
To celebrate the latest issue and the release of the list, Rolling Stone Australia partnered with Sonos to present a livestream countdown with songs taken from the Top 100 albums on the list.
Editor of Rolling Stone Australia, Tyler Jenke, hosted the stream with managing editor Poppy Reid and triple j’s Michael Chow. Jenke said it was an honour to have a role in helping compile the list.
“It’s been an amazing experience to go in-depth with many of these records, realising and understanding the blood, sweat, and tears that went into making each and every one,” he said.
