Digi Youth Arts has announced a new First Nations music and talk series, Couzin 2 Couzin.

Launched in partnership with the Consulate General of Canada, the series will see Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander musicians connect and speak to Indigenous musicians from Canada.

Available exclusively on Spotify, the four part series will see First Nations artists like Sycco, DOBBY and Selve’s Loki Liddle speak to Indigenous artist from Canada like Aysanabee, Sebastian Gaskin and Crown Lands’ Cody Bowles.

The first episode is out now, and sees Jem Cassar-Daley link up with NIMKISH.

“I think that the work that Digi Youth Arts is doing here to connect Indigenous artists from so-called Canada and so-called Australia is beautiful and important,” NIMKISH said.

“By bringing us together they are allowing us to support each other’s artistry and create conversation about our relation to our music.

“We are creating life-long connections that not only bring us lasting relationships but lay the groundwork down for future generations in this industry to build similar connections.

“Indigenous artists from all over the world are stronger together.”

Alethea Beetson, creator of the series said, Couzin 2 Couzin provides a space for artists to share their influences, connection to music and envisions of the future.

“Connecting First Nations musicians is an important part of the nation (re)building work undertaken by so many in the international Indigenous music community,” Beetson said.
