World record set at Sydney Guitar Festival

World record set at Sydney Guitar Festival

A new record was set at the Sydney Guitar Festival yesterday when 457 people played AC/DC’s Highway To Hell in unison in the same venue, at The Concourse in Chatswood.

The 457 – made up of men, women and children and cheered on from the stage by The Choirboys – was shy of the 500 the organisers hoped for, but still beat the record of 368 set in India in 2013.

The feat of The Largest Electric Guitar Ensemble has to be officially endorsed by The Guinness Book of Records.

But in the meantime, the feat raised – through the $45 registration fee – well over the target of $14,000.

The final tally was $29,642 and went to the Australian Children’s Music Foundation.

As part of their registration, each of the 457 received a $55 Marshall MS2 battery powered amp which they played through and were then allowed to keep.
