WAM unleashes extensive WAMFest 2016 program

Coming off the back of last year’s record-breaking attendance numbers, WAMFest (previously WAM Festival) has announced its extensive 2016 program.

Taking place over four days from 3 to 6 November, the popular annual event will showcase local talent with around 150 acts performing across more than 20 venues throughout Perth, Fremantle and surrounding suburbs.

Surplus to this announcement, West Australia Music (WAM) has also unveiled the newly named WA Music Conference (WAMCon) as part of this year’s WAMFest event. Held over two days in November (4 to 5 November), the conference is aimed at equipping and networking industry professionals, managers, bookers, students and music fans alike.

WAMCon’s cast of speakers will include a range of industry professionals from local and international stages. Five international and 17 touring speakers have already been announced for the event including Pilerats & Metric Events CEO Alex Paioff, owner of MyEntertainmentLawyer.com Andrew Fuller and director of Perfect Pitch Publishing Clive Hodson.

The conference will offer inspiring and informative panel sessions, one-on-one meetings and networking sessions, with early bird ticket holders given the chance to attend a reboot of last year’s sold out QuayNote Boat Party, which is part of Friday Showcases curated by promoters, organisations and venues including RTMFM, Emergence Creative and Move.

WAMCon will also offer rare and exclusive opportunities for artists to pitch their music to popular radio programmers Dave Ruby Howe from triple j Unearthed and Dorothy Markek from Double J.

In a celebration of local live music, Saturday Spectacular will boast over 90 acts performing across 12 of Northbridge’s finest venues. With the lineup to be announced shortly, Saturday Spectacular gives regional artists a platform to expose their music to the public and build networks in the local scene.

WAMFest have partnered with Parlour to close out this year’s event with a party. Presented by Drug Aware, WAMFest will emphasise a no tolerance policy for illicit drug use. The party will be hosted by a selection of venues in the local precinct.
