UNCO[V]ERED is going to help emerging acts to get a leg up in the industry

UNCO[V]ERED is going to help emerging acts to get a leg up in the industry
Foxtel Group General Manager, Entertainment & Music Fraser Stark

Foxtel music channel [V] is giving young bands the chance for a platform with the launch of their UNCO[V]ERED series.

Beginning Saturday, October 6, the initiative will highlight a new music video clip from an as-yet-undiscovered Australian act that will then receive high rotation on channel [V] throughout the following week.

“Essentially this is an exercise of assembly that requires significant taste and knowledge in any of the genres – [V], MAX, Smooth and CMC all have this in common,” Foxtel Group General Manager, Entertainment and Music Fraser Stark told TMN.

“What better way to use the skills we have in-house than to go out ahead of the charts and make some hit predictions of our own?

“We know from talking with the labels too that supporting new music is something they always welcome.”

Stark foresees the move further solidifying [V]’s reputation for championing Australian artists like 5 Seconds Of Summer, Delta Goodrem and The Veronicas.

“I think that the impact of UNCO[V]ERED will be twofold: For [V]’s fans it will be an advance taste of something new every week – videos which our programmes believe will have legs on the charts. They’ll be getting ahead of the curve – if you will.

“The other impact will be for the benefit of selected artists who’ll enjoy peak exposure on Australia’s #1 hit music channel along with the support of the ancillary digital comms we have on offer.

As part of a marketing mix for new releases it should prove to be pretty potent.”
