#1. Kygo & Imagine Dragons – ‘Born To Be Yours’ (SME)
‘Born To Be Yours’ is a radio-made tune. Having already placed in last week’s Most Added chart, the collab with Imagine Dragons has a folk vibe as hand claps and acoustic guitars shape much of the sound. Both artists are proven radio hitmakers with three Top 5 TMN Hot 100 singles between them (‘Firestone’ ft. Conrad Sewell #4, ‘Radioactive’ #5, ‘Thunder’ #3).
#2. Dean Lewis – ‘Be Alright’ (ISL/UMA)
Sydney’s Dean Lewis proves his songwriting flare on new single ‘Be Alright’, the first taste of his upcoming studio album. While there’s no doubt triple j will be all over the track, we’re also tipping commercial radio to lend their support to this tragic ballad. ‘Waves’ – Lewis’ most successful single at radio to date – saw heavy commercial adoption, helping the track to peak at #16 on the Hot 100 in April 2017.
#3. George Ezra – ‘Shotgun’ (COL/SME)
Even without an official radio service, George Ezra’s ‘Shotgun’ is currently featuring on the Hot 100, debuting at #51 last week. That’s all thanks to the Nova network who have raised their hand to champion the song. ‘Shotgun’ is currently at #1 on the UK Singles Chart and may well go on to become Ezra’s top performing track at Aus radio. That title currently sits with ‘Budapest’ which hit #8 two years ago.
