UK-based Global Entertainment hires execs from UMPG, Capitol

Global Entertainment, the content creation arm of Ashley Tabor’s U.K.-founded Global, the media and entertainment group, today announced the appointment of more key executives in the division.
Randy Phillips, CEO of Global Entertainment, based at Global Entertainment’s new state-of-the-art Los Angeles headquarters, continues to assemble an all-star team of expert industry professionals.
Firstly, Monti Olson joins Global Entertainment as an EVP and Managing Director of Worldwide Music Publishing, leading Global Publishing across both the LA and London offices. Olson joins from Universal Publishing where he was Executive Vice President/Head of A & R. Global Publishing already has an impressive roster including Ellie Goulding, Corinne Bailey Rae, LMFAO, The Script, The Vamps and The Vaccines, among others. Olson will lead the existing team in London, which already consists of a comprehensive team including A&R, administration, song plugging and sync, as well as building a team in the LA Office.
Paul Adamexpands his A&R responsibilities in a new position as SVP A&R at Global Entertainment, based in London and working across both the UK and US for recorded music and music publishing.Adam is a seasoned A&R executive with more than 20 years’ experience in the industry, notching up numerous multi-Platinum selling albums. Adam has held senior A&R roles at labels including Mercury Records, Island Records and Polydor, launching Bjork’s career, and signing acts including The Gaslight Anthem, Suede, McFly, Busted, Ian Brown and Amy Macdonald. He was a judge on the first reality TV talent show, Popstars, which was the forerunner to Pop Idol and the X Factor.
In the core label function of Global Entertainment, Bob Semanovich joins as SVP Marketing, based in LA. Semanovich joins from Capitol Records where he was responsible for the marketing strategy and implementation of acts including Katy Perry, Beck, Rod Stewart and Coldplay. Prior to that, Semanovich was at Columbia Records for a decade.
Ben Karter, who reports to Semanovich, joins Global Entertainment as GM, Recorded Music, UK. Karter was previously Director at James Grant management, with responsibility for artists such as The Script and Pixie Lott. Prior to that he was Head of Marketing at Mercury Records where he looked after artists including Elton John, Taylor Swift, Jake Bugg and Bon Jovi.Karter was previously at Sony Music. Between them, Semanovich and Karter bring a wealth of experience in marketing strategy & rollout, product management and digital experience. They form the core of the company’s label functions.
Finally, in the artist management function of Global Entertainment, Nicola Carson joins as VP Artist management, based in Los Angeles. Carson was formerly at Modest! Management where she oversaw Leona Lewis, One Direction, and the Modest! roster in the US. In the UK, Rachel Wood, who has been at Global Entertainment for four years and was previously at 19 Entertainment overseeing the Spice Girls reunion and managing other high profile artists and brands, partners with Carson as VP Artist Management, based in London. Between them Carson & Wood run Global Entertainment’s artist management functions across the US and the UK, including strategic planning with the label functions at Global Entertainment, diary planning and management of Global artists and day to day artist management.

Global is off and running with its first release, 18-year-old Atlanta wunderkind Anthony Lewis, brought to Global by Garnett March. Already one track, “Candy Rain,” landed on the Urban Mainstream chart at #11, while the official first single, “It’s Not My Fault,” featuring T.I., is rapidly garnering airplay.
