Tuned Global Acquires AI and DJ Mix Platform Pacemaker In ‘Watershed’

Tuned Global, the Melbourne-based B2B streaming technology provider, has acquired Pacemaker, the Sweden-based AI and DJ-mix specialist.

Financial terms weren’t disclosed for the deal, which Tuned Global is characterising as a “watershed” in its growth.

Announced Thursday (March 2) out of London, the purchase is Tuned Global’s most significant to-date, as it continues on its expansion mission into new markets.

When folks say Pacemaker ain’t rocket science, they’re wrong.

The platform was established by rocket scientists with a passion for data.

Back in 2008, the team unveiled its pocket-sized DJ system, an app that can blend tracks and other audio together in real time.

Pacemaker for iPad rolled out in 2014, and a string of new products and upgrades have dropped since.

Today, Pacemaker holds several patents and several awards for its innovative work, including the Apple Design Award and Apple Editor’s Choice.

“Our ultimate goal is to help our clients create more engagement for their end users,” comments Con Raso, managing director and founder of Tuned Global.

The combined company will offer “enhanced AI tools that will hook and excite users as part of our white-label music apps, as well as in a standalone product for companies who aren’t yet our customers,” Raso adds.

Notes Jonas Norberg, CEO of Pacemaker: “We believe that with Tuned Global, Pacemaker’s full-stack, mobile-first tech will reach a wider audience and we’ll be able to improve the music experience for Tuned Global’s clients. An obvious fit is in the wellness industry, but we think it’s much broader than that.”

Set up in 2011, Tuned Global operates in upwards of 50 countries with offices in the U.K. and the U.S., and last year recruited experienced digital media executive Rick Gleave to drive its growth in Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa.

The Australian business offers a range of music and media services for clients worldwide, including audio and video streaming needs, providing white-label streaming apps, streaming service APIs, music content delivery and licensor reporting.

Those clients have included the UFC, Line Music, Warner Music Group, Universal Music Group, Sony Music, True Digital Group, Pizza Hut, GMM Grammy, FanLabel and Psycle.

According to reps, its web3-ready tech can be used for immersive music experiences in the metaverse.

Tuned Global is backed by Australian venture capital firms Exto Partners and Artesian.
