Toyota Country Music Festival off to great start

The 2017 Toyota Country Music Festival, Tamworth has kicked off with over 7,500 people enjoying the free concerts in Toyota Park over the weekend.

Friday night’s Opening Concert boasted performances by Pete Denahy, Catherine Britt, Amber Lawrence, The Bushwackers, Bennett, Bowtell & Urquhart, Mitch King (2016 Toyota Busking Champion), Karin Page (2016 Toyota Starmaker) Ben Ransom Band and Hurricane Fall. Plus, a special surprise performance by Adam Harvey, who just so happened to be enjoying the concert in the crowd.

Festival Manager Barry Harley said while the weather might have kept a few away were still die-hard fans there right until the end.

“We were delighted to see so many people brave the weather to enjoy the outstanding performances on the opening night. It just goes to show it really doesn’t get any better than the Toyota Country Music Festival, Tamworth.”

At Saturday night’s concert hosted by Tamworth Family Support Service families were treated to surprise appearances by Disney characters Elsa and Anna from Frozen, Woody from Toy Story and Mulan from Mulan. Each of the characters performing a song from the movie. Headline act Amber Lawrence had the children up dancing for the duration of her performance which was the perfect mix of songs from her Kids Gone Country and Happy Ever After albums.

Festival organisers were delighted with the attendance on the night, stating it was one of the best family concerts to date. Then, it was Sunday nights Toyota Starmaker concert that saw the biggest crowd by far, with people squeezing into every nook and cranny they could find all to be the first to hear who will be the 2017 Toyota Starmaker. Guy Sebastian made a surprise appearance on the night and had the entire Park in awe as he performed.

Festival Manager Barry Harley said: “To have a superstar like Guy Sebastian in Tamworth supporting country music’s talent quest is a big coo for the industry and proves that the Australian country music industry is going from strength to strength.”

The Toyota Country Music Festival Tamworth is proudly supported by the NSW Government though its tourism and major events agency, Destination NSW.

The Toyota Country Music Festival Tamworth 20 – 29 January 2017 – it really doesn’t get any better than this!
