Tones And I is the first Aussie to top the ARIA Singles Chart in 2019

Tones And I continues her breakout 2019 by making Australian chart history, with her single ‘Dance Monkey’ hitting the #1 spot on the ARIA Singles Chart.

She’s the first Aussie to top the chart since Dean Lewis, who achieved the feat with ‘Be Alright’ in August 2018.

Tones is also the first Australian solo female artist to top the chart in almost four years, with the last coming care of Delta Goodrem’s single ‘Wings’ in 2015.

Debut track  ‘Johnny Run Away’ sits at #14 on the ARIA Chart, while new single ‘Never Seen The Rain’ has moved up to #32.

“I’m so glad it’s an Australian artist at the top of the ARIA charts,” said Tones.

“I feel so thankful and appreciate all the support. Go Australian music! #aussieaussieaussieoioioi”.

This week’s other movers include Blanco Brown, who’s country-rap single ‘The Git Up’ cracks the Top 10. The track is also this week’s TMN Hot 100 Heetseaker.

Sean Mendes & Camila Cabello spent just one week atop the ARIA Singles Chart, while ‘Old Town Road’ (#2) remains just one spot and one week away from matching the record for the most weeks at #1.

Tones is also seeing increased support at radio, with ‘Dance Monkey’ rising nine frames to #15 on the TMN Hot 100 Airplay Chart this week.

Meanwhile, ‘Never Seen The Rain’ jumped more than 20 spots to hit #64, and debut ‘Johnny Run Away’ bounced back to #88 after almost dropping off the chart a week earlier.

Tones And I will drop her debut EP The Kids Are Coming on August 30, and embarks on a sold-out Australian headline tour in September.
