Tones And I finally summits the TMN Hot 100 with ‘Dance Monkey’
Breakout Aussie Tones And I has conquered local radio, with her viral hit ‘Dance Monkey’ going top of the TMN Hot 100 Airplay Chart this week.
It caps off a massive breakthrough year for Tones, who becomes the third Australian artist to top the Hot 100 in 2019, after Guy Sebastian’s ‘Choir’ and ‘7 Minutes’ by Dean Lewis.
She’s been forced to bide her time for the achievement, with ‘Dance Monkey’ going #1 in its 18th charting week.
Despite beating Kylie Minogue to become the longest-serving #1 on the ARIA Chart by a solo female artist, radio has taken longer to crack for Tones.
‘Dance Monkey’ also summited the Spotify AU and Apple Music streaming charts several weeks ago.
In the process, Tones ends a chart-topping run by Shawn Mendes & Camila Cabello’s global smash ‘Senorita’, while also leaving Aussie radio juggernauts Guy Sebastian and Ed Sheeran in her wake.
The achievement comes on the same day that Tones And I released the video clip for her latest radio single ‘The Kids Are Coming’, ahead of her first international tour this September.
This week’s Hot 100 also sees new Top 10 peaks for Jonas Brothers with ‘Only Human’ (#6), Post Malone’s Circles (#8) and Ed Sheeran’s ‘South Of The Border’ ft. Camilla Cabello & Cardi B (#9).
