TEG taps former Virgin Australia exec Cameron Stone for tech leadership role

Former Virgin Australia executive Cameron Stone is spreading his wings at TEG, where he’s appointed as Chief Technology Officer.

In his new role, Stone is charged with oversight for delivering TEG’s technology capability and investments.

“Cam has built a successful career specialising in large transformation programs and the mobilisation of technology driven organisations,” comments Geoff Jones, Chief Executive of TEG.

“He is perfectly placed to extend TEG’s technology leadership across our global operations.”

Stone will drive TEG’s investments in digital innovation and automation that will “support our global expansion in content, ticketing and venues,” comments Ian Ball, TEG’s Chief Operating Officer and Global Head of Venues, to whom he reports.

The new recruit has worked across the aviation, financial services and health industries, and brings with him experience managing critical technology platforms, among other tasks.

Previously, he was Chief Information Officer at Virgin Australia where he’s said to have delivered some of the airline’s largest technology platform transformations and was a member of its executive leadership team. He was previously CIO and SVP at Aurizon.

TEG has played a big part in the restart of live music in Australia. The entertainment and tech giant was behind the Greatest Southern Nights shows at Qudos Bank Arena last November and December, which it jointly produced with Live Nation, and produced a brace of concerts under the banner 101.7 WSFM presents Pure Gold Live, through a new alliance with Empire Touring.

TEG’s empire spans ticketing, live entertainment and technology, with interests including Ticketek, TEG Live, Qudos Bank Arena, Eventopia, TEG Dainty, and the recently-acquired Van Egmond Group, the Melbourne-based concert promotion company which has produced some of the biggest tours ever to visit these parts.

Late last year, the Sydney-based group announced a string of executive hires and promotions, another plank in its long-term strategy for international expansion. Among the new hires was Ball, who joined from ASX-listed global professional services company Cardno.
