Nine more Australian acts have been invited to South By Southwest as the event dropped its second round of 106 acts from around the world.

The nine locals are Baker Boy (Melbourne), The Chats (Sunshine Coast), Hachiku (Melbourne), Jaguar Jonze (Brisbane), Kota Banks & Ninajirachi (Sydney), The Lazy Eyes (Sydney), Luke Howard (Melbourne), Sophie Hutchings (Sydney) and Sycco (Brisbane).

According to a SXSW spokesperson, some of the acts will be performing in the bush or in their back yards on March 16 to 20.

Other venues include a Taoist temple in Taiwan, an LA freeway overpass, Abbey Road Studios in London, a machine factory and an indoor shrimp fishing spot in Taiwan, a cable car in Norway, the 606 Club in London, the historic Leith Theatre in Scotland, a café-floriculture in Brazil, The Powerstation club in New Zealand, and Austin hometown favourites Hotel Vegas and Empire Control Room & Garage.

Sounds Australia will be presenting its own showcases, following on from this week’s Folk Alliance International’s first virtual conference Folk Unlocked Week where 65 Aussie acts took part in its two-hour livestream Close Up, followed by a further 12 during Isol-Aid Unlocked.

New additions to the list of showcases and presenters of this year’s performances include BeatBites Presents AOMG, Beer n Tacos, Black Fret, British Music Embassy, BrooklynVegan, Therapy Presents: The Caribbean Islands, Ireland Music Week, KoTPA (Korean Traditional Performing Arts Foundation), Luminelle Recordings, Northern Expo, Park The Van, Tokyo Sessions, Wide Days – Scotland, and Yamaha Guitars & BGS Presents.

The schedule will be available early next week.
