Study: Taylor Swift, Celine Dion fans most likely to oppose marriage equality; headbangers want gun laws to remain

Taylor Swift and Celine Dion might be ardent public advocates of the LGBT community.
Yet a high proportion of their US fans are against marriage equality.
Heavy metal, blues and country music fans are most prone to stronger gun restrictions while indie rock, reggae, and alternative fans want more barriers for owning guns.
Tickpick have done a survey of 1000 Americans to discover if there is a correlation between music tastes and political opinions, or if the two are not related at all.
In terms of same-sex marriage, 22.3% of Celine Dion fans and 19.7% of Taylor Swift followers were against it, with Garth Brooks fans at 25%.
On the other hand, fans of Lil Wayne, Lady Gaga, David Bowie and Tupac Shakur were far more open to it.
According to the data, 20% of country music fan and 16.5% of jazz fans are not in favour of same-sex marriage.
In the wake of the fatal shootings at a Las Vegas country music festival last year, Garth Brooks released an emotional video in support of the victims.
But his fans are most decidedly opposed to increased gun control.
On the other side of the spectrum, Beyonce’s army is most for tightening up the laws.
Those who vote for the conservative Republican party are more likely to like country music.
Democrats and Independents voters like classic rock (in particular The Beatles) followed by pop.
When it comes to legalising marijuana, heavy metal fans are most in favour, particularly those followers of Pantera.
They were followed closely by hip hop (Tupac listeners had the highest vote) and indie rock listeners.
Over a quarter of Celine Dion fans were adamant that marijuana should remain illegal.
Up to 65% of alternative and classic rock fans reject Donald Trump’s track record as president. Fans of Kanye West and Beyoncé were least likely to approve of Trump’s job performance, followed by those in the Lady Gaga army.
Country music, blues, and heavy metal think he’s doing a swell job.
One-third of Americans believe there should be a wall constructed to keep Mexicans out.
Figures show that music fans are not that adamant there should be one, but country, heavy metal, and blues folks are most likely to admire the move.
Most against are indie rock, hip hop and folk music types.
Breaking it down to artists, Garth Brooks fans are most for the wall, followed by Rod Stewart’s.
Against it are Kanye West’s consumers.
