Aussie singer-songwriter Starley & Kiwi producer P-Money have been recognised by APRA AMCOS with a place on The 1,000,000,000 List.

The pair were noted for their work on Starley’s 2016 debut single ‘Call On Me’, which recently hit one billion global streams.

APRA AMCOS chief executive Dean Ormston presented the pair with awards in separate ceremonies either side of the ditch over the past week.

Following its release, the track became a worldwide hit in 2017, with a remix by Aussie DJ Ryan Riback catapulting it to new heights.

“It’s an absolute honour to be recognised by APRA AMCOS with this award, especially since it reflects the millions of people that connected with a song that’s so personal to me,” Starley said at Friday’s presentation in Sydney.

“A very huge thanks to the one-and-only Ryan Riback. His remix took the song to the next level.”

A long list of achievements for ‘Call On Me’ saw it top Belgium’s Dance Chart and land Top 10 positions in UK, USA, Austria, Czech Republic, Denmark, Germany, Ireland, Netherlands, Norway,
Scotland and Switzerland.

Closer to home, the tune topped the TMN Australian Airplay Chart, as well as reaching #5 on TMN CHR Chart and #7 on the TMN Hot 100. It also appeared on a least 10 year-end 2017 charts.

‘Call On Me’ has accumulated multi-platinum sales status in many countries, including Diamond status in France (250,000 sales), 5 x Platinum in Sweden and triple Platinum in Australia and Canada.

“I greatly appreciate the award and the recognition, and I’d like to thank Starley, Ryan Riback, APRA AMCOS, Kobalt, Sam Dutch, B-Side and Archie from Central Station,” added P-Money, receiving his award in Auckland last week.

“Kobalt has worked with and represented P-Money’s publishing career globally for many years now. P’s talent has always shone and he has always had success but to see P reach these great heights is one of the highlights of my career. I would like to congratulate and thank him for this,” said Kobalt’s APAC Managing Director, Simon Moor.

Numbers from all major streaming services are taken into account when nominating songs eligible for The 1,000,000,000 List. These include Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, Vevo, Amazon, Google Play and more, and it is the first award of its kind to recognise a songwriter’s achievement.

“Congratulations to Starley and P-Money on achieving incredible worldwide success for ‘Call On Me,'” said Dean Ormston.

“It takes songwriting talent – and no doubt a lot of trust and vulnerability to collaborate and create a song that reaches one billion streams.

“APRA AMCOS is proud to acknowledge and celebrate our members when they reach this globally recognised industry milestone.

Starley and P-Money join Nat Dunn, Dean Lewis, Flume, Jake Mason, Ivan Khatchoyan and Lance Ferguson on The 1,000,000,000 List.
