Spotify AU is hiring a new MD as Karen Lawson leaves

Spotify Australia & New Zealand managing director Karen Lawson has departed.

She leaves the business less than a year after replacing Jane Huxley in the role.

A spokesperson for Spotify declined to comment on Lawson’s departure.

The departure leaves Spotify on the hunt for a new managing director.

Lawson joined Spotify after serving as CEO of Slingshot Accelerator and prior to that, careerone.com.au.

“I am thrilled to be joining Spotify as MD for Australia and New Zealand,” Lawson tweeted when joining Spotify in May of 2019.

“It’s wonderful to be part of a business which is so loved by millions of people around the world.”

As Mumbrella reports, Spotify’s head of automation and data Dan Robins and head of sales Cassie Gilbert have also left the company in the past 12 months.

Spotify Australia launched its first original and exclusive podcasts recently, including collaborations with Vice Media and The Betoota Advocate.

The DSP also unveiled RADAR – its emerging artist program, with Sydney singer-songwriter merci, mercy the first Aussie act to be featured.
