Splendour In The Grass sells out 35,000 tix in Byron Bay double quick time

The Splendour in the Grass festival in Byron Bay sold out its 35,000 tickets in what promoters call “quicker than a turmeric latte in Byron Bay on a winter’s day.”

Tickets went on sale at 9am today through moshtix for the 18th instalment of the event, held between Friday July 20 to Sunday 22 at North Byron Parklands.

A record number of patrons waited online to purchase, according to the festival.

Splendour’s co-producers Jessica Ducrou and Paul Pittico said “The love and excitement for Splendour this year has been nothing short of amazing.

“We’re thrilled to be bringing you another awesome edition of Splendour in the Grass!”

Kendrick Lamar will headline, with Splendour-only exclusive sets from Lorde, Vampire Weekend, Khalid, Henry Rollins and Girl Talk.

Other acts include Hilltop Hoods, The Wombats, CHVRCHES, Gang of Youths, Amy Shark, Miguel, Angus & Julia Stone, Franz Ferdinand, MGMT, Ben Howard, Dune Rats & Friends, Pnau, Ben Harper & Charlie Musselwhite, James Bay, Ball Park Music and a DJ set from The Avalanches.

For those who missed out on tickets this morning a ticket Resale Facility will become available via moshtix from 9am AEST Monday May 14.

Splendour warns punters not to buy tickets from Facebook, Gumtree or unauthorised ticket sellers.

It states, “Splendour tickets include the name and date of birth of the ticketholder.

“This is checked against your ID at the festival gates.

“There is NO facility in place that allows a ticket holder to change the name and date of birth on a ticket and transfer it to another person.”
