There’s a Spicks And Specks reunion coming this November

It’s been almost eight years since we said goodbye to the original run of the beloved Aussie music quiz show Spicks And Specks, but all is not lost, with a one-off reunion special coming this November.

From 2005 until 2011, our Wednesday nights were usually filled up with watching Spicks And Specks. While Adam Hills hosted the show with his trademark humour, team captains Alan Brough and Myf Warhurst were joined by a number of musical and comedic guests as they tested their musical wits.

Sadly, the show came to an end in 2011, and even though we saw a revival series back in 2014 (which was axed before it even finished its original run), we’ve been hanging out for a full-fledged reunion (or replacement) for some time. Now, it looks like that reunion is indeed on its way.

Taking to Twitter earlier today, Herald Sun TV writer Colin Vickery shared out a rather exciting Tweet confirming a reunion is coming later this year.

While being pressed for more info, Colin Vickery explained that this one-off reunion is set to take place as part of the ABC’s Ausmusic Month celebrations.

The Tweet was also shared by Myf Warhurst, who added to the excitement by noting, “The word is out. Spicks & Specks reunion here we come…”

At this stage, there’s no news as to when the show will be broadcast or filmed, but we’re hoping that more information will come to light in the coming weeks.

This news also comes just a matter of weeks after there was a renewed push for the ABC to bring Recovery back to our screens.

Instigated by Adelaide rockers Bad//Dreems, the initiative even gained the support of The Preatures, and former host Jane Gazzo, who has previously shared her excitement for a revival of the series.

While the ABC effectively put an end to any hope of a Recovery return, we did recently learn of a similar show coming to our screens, with The Songroom going to air this weekend.

While we might not be getting a Recovery revival or a full-on rebirth of Spicks And Specks, we’ll happily take a one-off special over a TV landscape that features no musical mirth-making whatsoever.
