SOTD: Flume’s return confirmed with latest cut ‘Friends’
“Damn it feels good to be back.”
Flume is indeed back in a big way, following up last week’s release of mixtape/visualiser project Hi This Is Flume with a new single titled ‘Friends’.
It’s a more conventional release from the gun Sydney producer, and features rising US rapper Reo Cragun.
While this new cut still has the glitchy, warped Flume vibes explored in depth on last week’s mixtape, it’s a more accessible pull from the artist who’s taken the world’s electronic music scene by storm over the past few years.
It’s unclear whether the track is the first taste of Flume’s next album, but he confirmed during the track’s premiere on triple j that this won’t be this last new release this year.
“There’s a lot of stuff on the way, I’m just keeping busy, writing lots of music… I feel like I had a big break and I don’t want to do that again, I want to be more consistent and put more music out.”
Flume reached #3 on the TMN Hot 100 Airplay Chart with tracks ‘Never Be Like You’ ft. Kai and ‘Say It’ ft. Tove Lo.
