SOTD: Aussie exports 5SOS just dropped a made-for-radio banger
5 Seconds Of Summer are solidifying their claim as Australia’s #1 musical export with the surprise release of new single ‘Easier’.
The track comes exactly 12 months after the release of multi-Platinum ARIA Song Of The Year, ‘Youngblood’ and is accompanied by a mind-bending music video.
John O’Donnell, managing director at EMI Music Australia, believes ‘Easier’ has the potential to be the boys’ biggest commercial success story yet.
“‘Easier’ is a total banger – possibly the band’s best ever single. We’re incredibly excited!”
Andrew Watt, Louis Bell and Charlie Puth produced the song, with the official music video directed by Grant Singer.
5SOS’ list of accolades is endless, both locally and internationally.
They are the only band (non vocal group) in chart history to see its first three full-length studio albums enter both the ARIA Albums Chart and Billboard 200 at #1.
‘Youngblood’ topped the TMN Hot 100 for five non-consecutive weeks and landed at #7 on the 2018 Year-End chart.
It was one of the highest-performing domestic songs of the year alongside lead singles from Dean Lewis (‘Be Alright’) and Amy Shark (‘I Said Hi’).
The Sydney (now LA-based) band currently sit at #13 on the airplay chart as a featured artist on The Chainsmokers’ ‘Who Do You Love’.
Nova’s Smallzy was first to hit play on ‘Easier’, securing yet another world premiere on his top-rating national night show.
