Sony Music unveils full roster of staff appointments and promotions
Sony Music has this morning announced a number of further appointments, following this week’s news that the company has hired Tim Kelly as General Manager Marketing Asia Pacific and promoted John Parker to the role General Manager, Marketing & Promotions and Artists Touring Division Australia & New Zealand.
Wayne Ringrow returns to Sony Music as Senior Director, Australian Artist Marketing based in Sydney. Wayne commenced with Sony Music in 1992 and has held a number of senior marketing and sales positions. He returns after leaving in 2011.
Jess Mitchell has joined Sony Music Australia from the RCA label in New York as Marketing Manager, reporting to John Parker. Jess will be responsible for marketing an allocated roster of international and Australian artists and has previously worked with artists including Miley Cyrus, Alicia Keys, Shakira, Pitbull, Hot Chelle Rae, Mikky Ekko and Betty Who, plus many more.
Alex Chavez has been appointed to the role of Manager, Australian Artist Development, reporting to Tony Glover and A&R Director, Pat Handlin. Alex will be responsible for working closely with the A&R and Australian artist marketing team in developing Australian artists, as well as working closely with Parade Management on local artist management. Alex joins from Latium Entertainment Los Angeles, where he worked in Artist Management and Development since 2007.
Gary English has been promoted to the role of Manager, Promotions & Publicity, Commercial Music Group based in the Sydney office and reporting to Tony Glover, General Manager Commercial Music Group and Parade Management with a dotted line to Grant Donges Director, Publicity & Promotions, Australian Artists Creative Marketing. In this role, Gary will be responsible for promotions and publicity for the Commercial Music Group, and will also work across a roster of frontline releases.
Aaron Neylan has been appointed to the role of Senior Manager, Queensland Operations. Aaron will continue to be based in Brisbane and report to Tim McLean and Grant Donges. In addition to his current responsibilities for Queensland state operations, which includes sales and business development, he also heads Queensland promotions & publicity.
Sony Music has also appointed two new lawyers, reporting to Gordon Pitt General Manger Business and Legal Affairs.
Rachael Brown been appointed to the role of Solicitor, Legal & Business Affairs. Rachel joins from the commercial law firm Banki Haddock Fiora, where she worked across the trade mark, litigation, media and copyright teams as a solicitor. Prior to that, Rachael worked as a paralegal in legal and business affairs at FremantleMedia Australia.
Shannon O’Heir has been appointed to the role of Solicitor, Legal & Business Affairs having joined from Red Bull where she held the role of Area Legal Assistant, Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific, dealing with legal matters across multiple divisions of the company. Prior to that, Shannon held the role of Legal and Business Affairs Executive at EMI Australia, as well as Foreign Rights Licensing Coordinator for the Australian Licensing Corporation.
