Snapchat and Pandora announce partnership
Pandora is the official music streaming partner for Snapchat’s third-party developer tool ‘Snap Kit’, allowing users to share songs through the social network.
Tinder and Patreon also number among the partners for the new integrated platform.
The feature will enable Snapchatters to send ‘song cards’ to their friends, which feature album artwork on animated backgrounds.
Recipients are able to swipe up to listen to the track on Pandora.
Pandora’s chief product officer Chris Phillips said: “This will be a powerful and comprehensive social integration with music.
“The Snapchat product experience and user base are primed for sharing, and our collaboration will provide a creative and compelling way to discover and enjoy music in a way that’s intuitive to Snapchatters.”
Pandora stock has now breached the $8 per share level.
Snapchat’s VP product Jacob Andreou enthused: “We’re always looking for more ways to bring Snapchat into the world and the world into Snapchat.
“With their vast music library, Pandora’s partnership with Snap Kit will help us make it easier and more fun for Snapchatters to share the music they love.”
The feature will roll out in the US in the coming weeks, with Pandora users seeing a ‘share on Snapchat’ option while listening.
