Sarah Aarons Could Add an Ivor Novello Award to Her Collection

Multiple APRA Award-winning songwriter Sarah Aarons is the hunt for an Ivor Novello, one of the most prestigious trophies in the international music community.

Aarons is a chance for best song musically and lyrically for “Haunted House,” written with Holly Humberstone and Rob Milton.

The Los Angeles-based Melbourne-based is a bona-fide hitmaker, with credits on several Zedd standouts (including “Stay,” “The Middle” and “Happy Now”), David Guetta’s “Don’t Leave Me Alone,” Jessie Ware’s “Alone,” and recordings by Camila Cabello, Galantis, Khalid, Dua Lipa, Lykke Li and Demi Lovato.

Aarons, who’s signed to Sony Music Publishing, cleaned up at the 2019 APRA Awards, where she took home four awards, including the coveted APRA songwriter of the year.

An “Ivor,” as they’re affectionately known in the U.K., is the pinnacle of achievement for songwriters and screen composers, and the annual ceremony in central London is arguably the British music industry’s favourite awards function.

Several APRA AMCOS members make the 2022 Ivors shortlist.

Dann Hume, a member of the 1,000,000 List with “See You Again,” is nominated in the best album category for “Pink Noise,” written with Laura Mvula, while Amy Taylor of Amyl And the Sniffers has a chance for glory for her contribution on best album nominee “Spare Ribs,” written by Andrew Fearn and Jason Williamson of Sleaford Mods.

Pnau enjoyed a No. 1 in the U.K. back in 2012 with Good Morning to the Night, their album remix adventure with Elton John.

The Sydney-based electronic music producers repeated the feat with Elton’s “Cold Heart (Pnau Remix)” featuring Dua Lipa, a modern disco classic which led the Official U.K. Singles Chart and ARIA Singles Chart in 2021.

“Cold Heart” is up for the Ivors’ most performed work category.

The Ivors Academy presents Ivor Novello Awards for exceptional songwriting and composing, and has done since 1956.

Winners in all categories for the 2022 edition are announced May 19.
