Sam Fischer topples Tones And I to nab the #1 Aussie song at radio
Breakout artist Sam Fischer recently cracked Australian radio with his single ‘This City’, and now Fischer officially holds the title of the #1 local artist.
The LA-based Aussie rises one frame to the top of the TMN Australian Airplay Chart powered by Radio Monitor. The chart pulls all Australian songs from the Hot 100.
Fischer brings to an end a truly mind-blowing run on the chart by 2019’s biggest export Tones And I, who held the top position since overtaking Guy Sebastian’s ‘Choir’ in late 2019.
Last week Tones And I celebrated her 30th consecutive week at the top of the chart, with ‘Dance Monkey’, ‘Never Seen The Rain’ and most recently, ‘Bad Child’ giving her a #1 stranglehold.
Fischer’s rise is reflected on the Hot 100 as well, as ‘This City’ rises 10 frames to a new peak of #6 this week, in its twelfth week on the chart.

Meanwhile, Dua Lipa is eyeing off another #1 single, as ‘Break My Heart’ jumps four places to #4 this week. It’s her third single to break the Top 5 since 2020 began.
Guy Sebastian is celebrating another chart milestone on the Hot 100, racking up his 50th week in the Top 50 of the chart with ‘Choir’.
The highest Hot 100 debut this week goes to ‘Rain On Me’ at #14, the new super-collab from Lady Gaga & Ariana Grande.
