Tash Sultana & Tame Impala among winners of 2021 Rolling Stone Australia Awards
The winners of the 2021 Rolling Stone Australia Awards have been revealed, with Tash Sultana, Tame Impala and Midnight Oil among the recipients.
The awards ceremony took place last night at an invite-only event in Sydney, hosted by Nova Adelaide Breakfast hosts Ben Harvey and Liam Stapleton.
Taking out the award for Best Record was Tkay Maidza, who released her eight-track project, Last Year Was Weird, Vol. 2, in August. Maidza beat out an impressive list including Tame Impala, The Kid LAROI, Gordi and Lime Cordiale, among others. Maidza was also up for Best Single, but was beaten by Tash Sultana and their track ‘Pretty Lady’.
Pop singer Mia Rodriguez was crowned the Best New Artist, up against fellow newcomers Miiesha, E^ST, Jaguar Jonze and Stevan.
Elsewhere, an international team of Rolling Stone staff members picked Tame Impala to be the recipient of the Global Award for his fourth studio album, The Slow Rush. When the power was handed over to the readers, however, Midnight Oil were handed the gong.
