Radio Wrap: Jackie O goes #1 on iTunes, Ben & Liam wake-up call goes wrong

Jackie O’s single Honey Money goes to #1 on iTunes Pop Chart

KIIS FM’s Jackie ‘O’ Henderson released her debut single this week, and within two days it went to #1 on the iTunes Australia Pop Chart.

What started with a challenge from on-air partner Kyle Sandilands escalated to the full release of the track.

“As a kid I did a lot of singing and dancing. I’ve been talking about recording a song on-air for ages and when Kyle challenged me, Kian one of our Producers and I actually did it,” Jackie O told Radio Today.

All proceeds from the release of the single will go to Drought Angels. It is now available via iTunes.

Ben and Liam’s plan to wake up new boss Lachie Macara on air goes awry

Ben and Liam‘s Wednesday Wake-up Call didn’t work out as planned this week, with a call to new triple j boss Lachie Macara finding the boys in trouble.

After some convincing from Liam, they eventually decided to go through with it, and Macara answered groggily as the triple j Breakfast team blasted Bring Me To Life by Evanescence.

“Do we still have a job?” they asked.

“When I get in, we should have a chat…” said Lachie.

Kyle and Jackie O recall rejected segment ideas

The Kyle and Jackie O Show has produced some incredible on-air moments over its duration.

But with every idea that makes it through to the show, many more are rejected, and this week Kyle and Jackie reflected on some of the worst ideas that never made it past the cutting room floor.

Shelved ideas included a competition called ‘Two in the pink, one in the stink’ – the first two callers get P!NK tickets and the third gets a bucket of sewage.

Another was a competition to find out who could shelve the biggest item in their rectum and smuggle it into a music festival.

The full list of rejected segments is here.
