POSSUM Records enters into joint venture with FANFARE Records

Music label Fanfare Records, a division of Ambition Music, has announced a new joint venture with POSSUM Records.

POSSUM Records is run by industry stalwart Philip Israel, who began his career in 1973 with EMI Records. He would go on to found POSSUM in 1983 with the signings of Ace of Base, Twenty 4 Seven, Technotronic and Black Lace.

The label will now join the Ambition Music family, with FANFARE and POSSUM’s catalogues to be distributed by Sony Music Entertainment.

FANFARE Records is led by Robert Rigby, and has released hugely successful records including the ARIA award winning Russell Morris blues albums, Sharkmouth and Van Diemen’s Land, Michael Crawford’s platinum selling The Story Of My Life.

“Robert Rigby and I have known each other for a very long time. Musically we are on the same page and I’m excited about this new Joint Venture,” Phillip Israel tells TMN.

In announcing the new JV, the two parties revealed that there will be a focus to release rare and deep catalogue product for Australian and International artists; including Reg Livermore, Linda Ronstadt, Dr Hook, Crosby, Stills & Nash, Lou Reed, Sex Pistols & Eurythmics.

Fanfare Records is home to acts including Brian Cadd, Marina Prior, Richard Clayderman, The Original Seekers, the late Jon English along with current International Star Soprano, MIRUSIA.

“We are excited to have POSSUM Records join our team and know with Philip Israel’s extensive music knowledge the label will go from strength to strength as part of the Ambition Music Family,” adds Ambition managing director Robert Rigby.

The POSSUM Records catalogue will begin releasing its catalogue with FANFARE Records in August, 2020.
