Pnau is on dominating charts in the U.S. and U.K. with ‘Cold Heart’

Pnau is ruling charts on both sides of Atlantic with ‘Cold Heart,’ the Sydneysiders’ mashup of Rocket Man classics.

‘Cold Heart,’ featuring the vocals of Elton John and Dua Lipa, rockets to No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart (dated Oct. 23), with 8 million U.S. streams (up 18% week-on-week) and 10,200 sales (up 10%), Billboard reports.

It’s the first leader for any of those acts.

The tune also reigns over the U.S. Dance/Electronic Digital Song Sales chart for a ninth week, and last Friday (Oct. 15) logged its first stint at No. 1 on the Official U.K. Singles Chart, ousting Ed Sheeran’s ‘Shivers’.

Meanwhile, Pnau’s remix of ‘Cold Heart, which appears on Elton’s The Lockdown Sessions, due out this Friday (Oct. 22), lifts 32-25 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, for Elton’s best outing since March 1998.

When Pnau and Elton John come together, the results tend to impress.

Back in 2012, a collaborative remix project, Good Morning to the Night, billed as Elton John vs Pnau, spent a week at No. 1 on the Official U.K. Albums Chart.

Nick Littlemore and Peter Mayes told TIO how the chance collab came about, how tea and grapes soothed their nerves and how the production pair spent six months just soaking up all of Elton’s music (Littlemore’s brother Sam is is now an official member of the group).

‘Good Morning to the Night’ was a solid gold hit, blasting to the chart summit on release.

“It was a big moment,” recounted Mayes. “Elton was calling us up at 3am going, ‘why the fuck aren’t you awake’. We’re going No. 1.’”
