Party Dozen sign label, booking agency deals ahead of new album release

The world party is building for Sydney duo Party Dozen, who’ve struck a string of international deals. 

With a new album on the way and a busy stretch of activity in the months ahead, the pairing of saxophonist Kirsty Tickle and percussionist Jonathan Boulet have signed with New York’s Temporary Residence Limited, for the world excluding ANZ.

The label home to such acts as Mogwai, Explosions In The Sky, BEAK> and Mono, Temporary Residence is set to reissue Party Dozen’s previous two albums, including The Living Man and 2020’s Pray For Party Dozen, which scored an AIR Awards nomination for Best Independent Jazz Album or EP.

Separately, Party Dozen will release a 7″ through Sub Pop as part of the iconic Seattle label’s Singles Club.

The track, ‘Fat Hans Gone Mad,’ will be issued exclusively to Sub Pop Singles Club subscribers on April 1, then roll out two weeks later, April 15, across all DSPs.

A forthcoming LP, their first new material since January 2021’s ‘The Worker,’ will be announced in the next month, and supported by a visual collaboration with Phoenix Central Park Art Gallery.

On the live front, the group has partnered with two international agencies.

Free Trade Agency (Flaming Lips, Fleet Foxes, The War on Drugs) will represent the act for Europe, ahead of their first Continental shows this May.

Meanwhile, Anniversary Group (Deerhoof, mxmtoon, Black Dice) will book Party Dozen for The Americas and Asia.

Local fans won’t have to wait long to see Party Dozen in action. The duo will perform March 13 at King St Carnival, and back it up with headline shows at Sydney’s Mary’s Underground for Great Southern Nights on March 31 and Melbourne’s Northcote Social Club on April 7.

The eclectic, improv-leaning outfit released their debut full-length release The Living Man in 2017. The record was supported by FBi Radio as Album of the Week.

In the years since, the noise-rock exponents have spread the word with performances at Bigsound, Yours & Owls Festival and more.
