NSW camping festival Subsonic returns in 2016

Subsonic Music is a yearly celebration of art, music, culture and community held for three days each December in a lush green valley amidst the picturesque backdrop of Australia’s Riverwood Downs. Drawing inspiration from the best dance events around the planet, Subsonic harnesses the talents of some of Australasia’s and Europe’s finest festival folk to deliver a truly world class, boutique festival experience. Handcrafted stages are adorned with otherworldly décor and multimedia artistry, combining to conjure the ultimate grown-up party playground.

Now in its 8th year, Subsonic Music has hosted and toured a venerable selection of acclaimed live and electronic acts including: Chic featuring Nile Rodgers, Apparat, Salmonella Dub, Resin Dogs, Che Fu & King Kapisi, Tijuana Cartel, Prosumer, Charlie 2na, Jamie Jones, Robag Wruhme, Roman Flugel, Kink, Freq Nasty, Ellen Alien, Minilogue, Extrawelt, Opiuo, James Holden, FrancescaLombardo, Mark Pritchard to name but a few. The 2016 edition boasts over 150 international & local acts over five stages, featuring an all-star international & local timetable playing 72 hours of non-stop music including Lee Scratch Perry meets Mad Professor, Seth Troxler, Goldie, Josh Wink, Ben UFO, Machinedrum, One Day, Shapeshifter, Jimmy Edgar, Archie Hamilton, Honey Dijon, Dana Ruh, DJ Bone, dOP, Alexkid,Mayaan Nidam, Margaret Dygas, Deadbeat featuring Tikiman, The Mole, Sonja Moonear, One Day, Rainbow Chan, Trinity, and more. Subsonic Music is steadfast in sustaining a non-commercial approach to it’s artist selection, and seek out the best very best in quality music to bring to Australian shores, while keeping the size of the event capped at 5000 to cultivate an intimate, respectful and environmentally-sound experience.

With a focus on experience and community, this custom-built artisan lifestyle festival hosts a community program in the Subsonic Village which runs alongside the music schedule, featuring performance art, workshops, drummers, fire dancers, yoga, community projects, market stalls and a family floor. Revellers are invited to swim in the Karuah River which runs around the festival site and participate in the variety of events throughout the course of the weekend. Subsonic’s ethos is a simple yet powerful call to escape the city grind and reconnect with nature and the inclusive community spirit; with no reception onsite, Subsonic Music Festival provides an off-the-grid experience where attendees disconnect from ever-encroaching technology, reconnect with one-another, and forge new connections – all while revelling in the beauty of the Australia environment to a backdrop of community and creative expression.
