triple j unearthed pick of the week le pie 1

Look, I’ve done my research and yes, it is indeed true that this time last year (well Jan 30 2015 to be exact) I wrote a few stanzas of fruity praise for Sydney newcomer Le Pie and her debut tune Secrets. And here we are again; first month of the year, a new Le Pie tune and more words of ovation from me.

As much as I don’t want to keep repeating myself I simply can’t resist the pull of this new one from Le Pie. Up All Night ventures left of the ‘50s/’60s girl group sound without losing any of that sound’s sweet touch; indeed we’re greeted with some swirling woah-oh’s, xylophone chimes and energetic and choppy guitars.

Le Pie’s Sarah Fenn derides the song’s recipient for keeping her “up all night – but not the fun type”, but goodness gracious this song is fun.
