Flyying Colours
ROYGBIV EP
(ISLAU/UMA)Out August 21

Recently announced as one of the newer signings to Island Records Australia, the Melbourne psych-infused shoegaze troupe recentlytoured as the supporton Johnny Marr’s Australian Tour as well as a took on amonth-long stint in the Europe with several sell out dates on top of appearances at The Great Escape Festival and Primavera Sound.

The recently released lead single Running Late takes the sound that made their previous self-titled EP a hit amongst fans and adds an undeniably more matured sound to the mix, not to mention an overall, more polished finish to the track. Though not nearly as gritty as previous tracks, it still takes the best aspects of shoegaze and makes it more commercially friendly. With additions to the likes of triple j and other alternative radio stations, this track hasset the bar for any other forthcoming singles as well as the album in general. With big label backing behind the group they will no doubt hit new career peaks in no time.

Royal Headache
High
(RIP SOCIETY)Out August 21

Western Sydney garage rock icons Royal Headache seetheir sophomore album High released on August 21 through Sydney independent record label RIP Society. The group first turned heads with their debut self-titled album in 2011, which remains a fan favouritewith its catchy hooks and rustic, twangy sound –no doubt thanks to Mikey Young’s (Eddy Current Suppression Ring, Total Control) production work.

Now they’ve returned with High;the lead single and title track as well as recently released Another World show that the band are capable of doing the odd heartfelt song in between the frantic and aggressivegarage punk tracks which characterise the group's sound. The new singles also show the band have adopted an ever-so-slightly cleaner production, whilst still retaining the grit listeners have grown to love.

Royal Headache made headlines in previous months with their long awaited return show at Vivid at the Sydney Opera House. Police were required to shut down their set after a stage invasion by numerous fans was deemed too rowdy. Since then they followed up the appearance with two recent shows in Sydney, one at the Factory Theatre, the other at Goodgod Small Club, both of which sold out. This release could be the group's most successful yet both locally and overseas, especially with the group currently touring the album in America.
