Nine Australian acts for UK’s The Great Escape

Nine Australian acts were among the first 150 global names announced for the UK’s The Great Escape in May.

They are Remi, Bad//Dreems (pictured), Saskwatch, Twerps, Apes, Fraser A. Gorman, Flyying Colours, Little May and Pierce Brothers.

They join acts as southern soul-rock Alabama Shakes, alt-punks Slaves, London folktronica Django Django, LA troubadour Tobias Jesso Jr, Thurston Moore Band, Swedish-American pop singer Mapei, Dublin-based Girl Band and futurist electro-pop purveyor Jack Garrett.

The Great Escape, which is one of the destinations championed by export body Sounds Australia, is staged for the tenth year in Brighton between May 14 and 16.

Festival director Kat Morris said: “The Great Escape is extremely proud to champion emerging talent and creativity across the entire music industry. For the past decade, TGE has given upcoming artists the opportunity to perform for 18,000 passionate fans each year who are all hugely supportive of new music.

“To mark this very special tenth anniversary, we are excited to be bringing back some very special guests who have all performed iconic and memorable shows in previous years to play alongside 400 of 2015s hottest emerging artists from across the world.”
