Music Victoria Opens 2026 Music Works Funding Round

Music Victoria has opened applications for the 2026 round of Music Works, the state government-funded program supporting artists, music workers, businesses, and organisations across the state's contemporary music sector.

The program, delivered by Music Victoria, offers two funding streams: Activation Grants, worth a fixed $5,000, and Project Grants, ranging from $10,000 to $40,000.

Activation Grants require a less detailed application and can be used to support songwriting, composition, recording, marketing, touring, mentorship and professional or business development. Project Grants are aimed at more strategic initiatives that deliver broader artistic, business and sector outcomes, including industry development, cross-industry collaboration, and innovative products, services and technologies.

Applications are now open and will close at 2pm on Wednesday, August 5th (AEST). Successful applicants will be notified from October, with funded activities required to take place between November 1st, 2026 and October 30th, 2027.

Music Victoria will run an online information session at 1pm on Tuesday, July 14th, with a recording made available afterward for those unable to attend. Following the session, applicants can book 15-minute one-on-one consultations with the Music Works program team. See here for details. 

This year's round includes a dedicated First Peoples application and assessment process, delivered by Creative Victoria's First Peoples program staff in partnership with Music Victoria and Songlines Aboriginal Music Corporation.
