Kirin J Callinan has been removed from the Laneway Festival lineup, without an official statement as to why.

In a new lineup posted uploaded to Laneway’s Facebook on January 15, Callinan’s name was notably absent, despite 15 new additions to the lineup.

Callinan was added to the national lineup November, alongside Pond, but there was no announcement regarding Callinan’s removal.

The eccentric and outlandish performer made headlines at the 2017 ARIAs for flashing his penis on the red carpet. He was widely criticised within the music industry for the stunt.

Callinan has not addressed the ARIAs incident in any way, nor has any apology or statement come from his management.

TMN has reached out to Laneway Festival and Kirin J Callinan’s management for comment.

The first Laneway lineup announcement was leaked a day early in September 2017.

The first leg of Laneway Festival goes down in Adelaide on February 2.

UPDATE: Brisbane rapper Miss Blanks has taken to Instagram to reveal that Callinan’s removal came about as a result of a conversation she had with Laneway organisers.

"His long and recent history of reckless and insensitive actions reinforces an entitlement which permits Kirin and others like him to dismiss valid issues, and normalises racism, ableism and sexual assault," she said.

Miss Blanks also confirmed to triple j that the content of her conversation with Laneway was the reason Callinan was removed from the lineup.

"I expressed [to Laneway] how I felt, they definitely took that on board, and they had internal conversations besides the one done with me, and it’s led to the decision of Kirin being kicked off the lineup, which is great," she told triple j’s Hack program yesterday.
