Harry Styles to perform at the ARIA Awards

Harry Styles adds some international star firepower to the ARIA Awards, announced as one of the performers this morning.

It comes in the wake of his self-titled debut solo album reaching #1 on the ARIA chart, his ‘Sign Of The Times’ declared double platinum for Australian sales, and the music video for new single ‘Kiwi’ seeing the light of day this morning.

Dan Rosen, ARIA Chief Executive Officer says, “We are thrilled to welcome the phenomenal Harry Styles back to Sydney to join us at the ARIAs.

“He is one of the world’s most successful and in-demand solo artists and has a special relationship with his Australian fans. We cannot wait to have him rock the ARIA stage.”

Styles will play the November 28 awards at The Star n Sydney two days after his sold-out show at the city’s Enmore Theatre and sets up the November 30 date at Melbourne’s Forum Theatre, which is also sold out.

He returns for a four-date national arena tour between April 21 to 28. Two of the shows are already sold out.

The former One Direction member’s solo career has been a success story.

On its release in May, his album topped the official charts at #1 in more than 55 countries.

In the US, it set a new record for the biggest debut sales week for a U.K. male artist’s first full-length album since Nielsen Music began tracking sales in 1991.

He made his acting debut in Christopher Nolan’s Dunkirk in July. “

Dunkirk topped the US box office in its first weekend and was one of the top-grossing films of the northern summer.

Styles became the first British artist with a #1 debut song, album and film in the same year.

The release of ‘Kiwi’ as a single has created problems for the singer.

Fans at overseas shows have started to throw the fruit at him as a fan ritual.

At a London show, he slipped on the goo on the stage and severely told fans to leave the fruit at home next time
