GL Joins Dan Sultan At The Top Of The Community Radio Charts

The Amrap Metro and Amrap Regional Charts provide insight into what’s gaining airplay and attention on community radio. The charts show the top ten tracks ordered for airplay by community broadcasters through the Amrap’s AirIt music distribution service. This week GL moves into #1 in the Amrap Metro Chart, with Dan Sultan continuing to hold onto the #1 position in the Amrap Regional Chart.

GL have risen to take out #1 in the Amrap Metro Chart during their second charting week, with latest offering Destiny. The track, which is driven by a bouncing bass line and compelling harmony, appears in SYN’s Sweet 16, RTRFM’s Sound Selection and also FBi Radio’s New Music List. Destiny has received further airplay support from HFM and Harvey Community Radio in WA, 5 Triple Z, Tribe FM, Fleurieu FM and WOW FM in SA, 98.9 North West FM, 96.5 Inner FM, OCR FM and Plenty Valley FM in VIC, as well as FBi Radio, 2BACR, Nim FM, 2SER and 2RRR in NSW.

Dan Sultan appears at #1 for the third continuous week with Hold It Together. The track, which features a volcanic chorus backed by a gospel choir, has amassed radio airplay from CAAMA in NT, Voice of the Avon in WA, Fraser Coast FM and 4YOU in QLD, 5CST, Tribe FM, Alex FM, and Fleurieu FM in SA, 99.9 Voice FM, 3MGB Wilderness Radio, and PBS FM in VIC, as well as Koori Radio, 2RRR, Bay FM, 2BOB, and Radio Nambucca in NSW.

Sensible J moves into #2 in the Amrap Metro Chart with Fire Sign. Sensible J dropped into the Triple R studios in Melbourne to chat with Chris Gill on Get Down, and was joined by artists Remi and Sampa The Great who feature on the track Fire Sign. The trio discussed their collaborative single, touring together in the UK and Australia, and how Australian music is gaining exposure overseas. The trio also performed the charting single live to air, which is available to listen to here. The groove-heavy hip-hop track appears on SYN’s Sweet 16, RTRFM’s Sound Selection as well as FBi Radio’s New Music List, with further airplay from HFM in WA, CAAMA in NT, Eastside Radio, and 2SER in NSW, 5 Triple Z, WOW FM, Tribe FM, and Fleurieu FM in SA, 96.5 Inner FM, Seymour FM, OCR FM and 3CR in VIC.

Kardajala Kirridarra are charting at #2 in the Amrap Regional Chart, whilst also taking out #5 in the Amrap Metro Chart with Ngabaju (Grandmother’s Song). Eleanor Dixon, the vocalist and songwriter of Kardajala Kirridarra, joined Gloria and Ro on The Shortlist on SYN Melbourne. She spoke of the four-piece’s formation, fusing electronic production with the poetry of the Mudburra language to create their sound, and empowering women with their art and debut album. Ngabaju (Grandmother’s Song) appears on RTRFM’s Sound Selection as well as SYN’s Sweet 16.

Mere Women debut in the Amrap Metro Chart at #3 with Eternally. School Damage move into #4 in the Amrap Metro Chart with Tall Poppies. School Damage performed a riveting Studio 5 Live Set on Mixing Up The Medicine on PBS FM Melbourne, where they performed songs from their recently released self-titled debut album. Tall Poppies has amassed radio airplay from CAAMA in NT, HFM in WA, FBi Radio and Yass FM in NSW, Three D Radio, 5 Triple Z, Fleurieu FM and Tribe FM in SA, as well as 3MDR, 3WAY, OCR FM and 3CR in VIC.

D Henry Fenton debuts in the Amrap Regional Charts at #4 with Tiny Pieces. Lloyd Spiegel joined Helen on Roots of Rhythm on PBS FM Melbourne, where he spoke of being a travelling musician, writing his upcoming album This Time Tomorrow on the road, and the challenges of performing to a non-English speaking audience. He also performed a track off the upcoming album live-to-air.
