ARIA Charts: The Temper Trap Take Out Top Spot on Australian Albums List

The Temper Trap have scored the No. 1 Australian record on this week's ARIA charts with their comeback album, Sungazer.

The Melbourne-formed band's fourth album has not only debuted at top spot on the Australian Albums list, but also No. 9 on the main Albums chart.

They previously reached No. 9 in 2009 with Conditions, No. 1 in 2012 with The Temper Trap and No. 1 in 2016 with Thick as Thieves.

While Olivia Rodrigo has reclaimed No. 1 on the Albums chart with you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love for a fourth non-consecutive week, The Rolling Stones have debuted at No. 2 with their latest studio effort, Foreign Tongues.

Before the ARIA charts launched in 1988, the iconic rockers topped the Australian chart with Out Of Our Heads (1965), Sticky Fingers (1971), Exile On Main Street (1972), Goats Head Soup (1973), It’s Only Rock ‘N Roll (1974), Black and Blue (1976), Some Girls (1978), Emotional Rescue (1980) and Tattoo You (1981). Since 1988, they have scored six top five albums; their previous one, Hackney Diamonds, got to No. 3 in 2023.

Other debuts this week include the Heated Rivalry soundtrack (No. 3) Bring Me The Horizon's Count Your Blessings Repented (No. 5), Jack White's Frozen Charlotte (No. 17) and The Velvet Club's Are You Falling in Love? (No. 29).

Over on the Singles chart, Ella Langley's “Choosin' Texas” stays at No. 1 for a sixth consecutive week, while Josh Fawaz' “Like a Prayer” remix stays at No. 3 on the Australian Artist Singles chart on the same day the DJ added AI credits to the song which has received widespread criticism.
