AC/DC drummer in court on procuring murder charge

AC/DC’s drummer Phil Rudd has appeared before a New Zealand court charged with attempting to procure a murder, threatening to kill and drugs offences.

According to court documents, Rudd is accused of procuring murder between September 25 and September 26.

According to Tauranga news website SunLive, the 60-year-old was silent during his appearance in Tauranga District Court this afternoon and did not seek name suppression.

Rudd was later released on bail  until November 27 when he will appear in a Registrar’s List and must stay in Tauranga on the North Island without contacting anyone related to the charge as per the bail conditions.

The Australian-born artist, who has lived in Tauranga for several years, was also charged with possession of methamphetamine and cannabis following a raid on his Tauranga home this morning.

SunLive reports that two security guards and a police officer have been posted outside the gate of his home.
