New Signings & Team-Ups: BMG ink global deal with Dune Rats
DUNE RATS FINALLY SIGN GLOBAL DEAL, OPT FOR BMG
BMG signed Dune Rats to a global recording deal.
The Brisbane heavy rock band’s second album The Kids Will Know It’s Bullshit, debuted at #1 in 2017 on the ARIA Album chart, was triple j’s feature album upon release and was nominated for the 2017 ARIA for rock album while the “Scott Green” single was recently certified gold.
The band already has a presence abroad with a 40 plus stop tour of North America and Europe.
Heath Johns, BMG Australia’s managing director, said, “It’s no secret that the Dune Rats were the hottest free agents in Australia and their decision to sign with BMG marks a critical moment for our young company.
“We look forward to helping them make a career-defining record and taking the band to the world’s lar, gest stages, which is exactly where they belong”.
Dune Rats manager Matty Woo said he had already spent time with the Australian and overseas teams “and it just feels so good knowing how energised and invested everyone is about the next stage for Dunies”.

REMOTE CONTROL REISSUES MAGIC DIRT CLASSIC
Remote Control Records in partnership with Emergency Music is reissuing Signs Of Satanic Youth by Magic Dirt.
It was originally released in November 1993 on vinyl as a double 7″ single and on CD. Both have long been out of print.
It is available to stream and download for the first time. Two 12” vinyl editions (coloured and classic black) and a CD edition will be available from Friday, January 18
Magic Dirt explain – “The reissue of Signs Of Satanic Youth is particularly significant as it was a project spearheaded by Dean (Turner) and was a long-held dream of his that we are now so proud to be able to realise.
“ To have it available to the public after almost 25 years and for the first time on 12” vinyl is a momentous occasion for the band and we are so happy to be able to share this part of our legacy.”
NICHE ADDS RIVAH
Niche Talent Agency added Brisbane-based Rivah, hot on the heels of her BIGSOUND showcase, touring with The Rubens after appearing on their massive hit, “Never Ever” and a writing session in Los Angeles after part of APRA AMCOS’ Song Hubs.
Drawing comparisons to MØ and SZA, the act has just dropped new single “Flood”
Rivah explains, “I left my hometown of Brisbane in 2015 to travel and write until I found what I was looking for.
“I worked with a lot of incredible producers who I met in different cities along the way.
“‘Flood’ was actually one of the first tracks I wrote in New Zealand with Sam de Jong who is boss at production and has made the track sound like fire.
“ I had started writing the lyrics while watching Chance the Rapper’s short film – Clapping for the Wrong Reasons.
“Ultimately ‘Flood’ is about me. And for every other person who’s felt alone in their life.
“It’s about remembering that you are loved and that you have to let love in.”

123 Agency is now repping much talked about act Divide And Dissolve as they embark on international dates.
They are heavy two-piece based in Narrm (Melbourne). Takiaya Reed is from Turtle Island (so-called United States) and part Cherokee.
Sylvie Nehill grew up in Geelong and is part Māori. They are always seeking to pay respect to their ancestors.
With shows behind their Abomination album selling out, this week the duo announced an extensive North American tour dates with Sumac over December/January, including a slot at Treefort Music Festival in Boise, Indiana.
They also announced that their next LP will be produced by Unknown Mortal Orchestra’s Ruban Nielson.
Abomination’s eight instrumental tracks takes inspiration from their ancestors, rivers, forests and bodies of water.
GOLDEN ERA CHASE SHADOW
Golden Era Records’ latest signing is Perth rapper/grime artist Shadow. A single “Cream” is out, with an EP set for early 2019.
The 22-year-old moved from South Africa to Perth in 2008, and two years later he picked up a mic for the first time inspired by classic hip hop artists like Big L and Nas.
Over the last eight years, he has shaped his sound to an aggressive UK inspired Grime delivery that is both fierce and lyrical.
UMPG PICKS UP SCREEN COMPOSER GEORGE FENTON
Universal Music Publishing Group signed a global administration deal with award-winning screen composer George Fenton.
His music credits include Gandhi, BBC’s Planet Earth, Groundhog Day, Cry Freedom, The Madness of King George, Shadowlands and Dangerous Liaisons, among many others as well as natural history TV shows as The Trials of Life, Life in the Freezer, The Blue Planet, Frozen Planet and more.
SWEAT IT OUT / MAJESTIC CASUAL PARTNER FOR MOLI
Sweat It Out partnered with Majestic Casual to sign Belgian-born UK-based “neon lit pop music” singer-songwriter Moli.
The 19-year old has made a mark in the UK for her vocal delivery and storytelling skills, showcased on debut five-track EP Résumé.
Moli explains, “I’m super happy to be bringing my music to Australia & New Zealand with Sweat It Out & Majestic Casual!
“It’s an honour to be part of Sweat’s roster, with some of my favourite artists such as What So Not, Anna Lunoe, Motez and Yolanda Be Cool.”
PEERMUSIC ADDS DAN OLSEN
Peermusic finalised a publishing deal with international singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Dan Olsen.
Originally from the Faroe Islands, he was recently appointed a Nordic music ambassador.
He has toured in Russia, USA and China, where he has performed with some of China’s biggest artists as Huo Zun.
He is scheduled to make his fifth tour of China next year and working with Jasmine Chen of the Crazy, Rich Asians soundtrack.

The extensive 214-song catalogue of US songwriter and producer Poo Bear has been acquired by Hipgnosis Songs.
Poo Bear co-wrote nine out of 13 songs on Justin Bieber’s album Purpose, which has sold over 14 million copies worldwide.
He also wrote top 10 hits for Usher, David Guetta, DJ Khaled, Chris Brown, Fifth Harmony, Jennifer Lopez and Skrillex.
