Native Tongue sign Slowly Slowly’s Ben Stewart
Australasian publisher Native Tongue has signed Victorian singer-songwriter Ben Stewart, heralding his “vulnerable and unbridled approach to songwriting.”
Stewart is best known as frontman of punk rock Slowly Slowly, and more recently for his pop side project Congrats which launched with ‘Cut Down The Middle.’
Native Tongue managing director Jaime Gough says, “We’ve been fans of Slowly Slowly for a while now.
“When we met Ben it was clear he had the drive and passion to be a career songwriter across many genres of music, including his solo project Congrats which is going to be a lot of fun to work with.”
Head of creative services, Matt Tanner, adds; ” Ben’s enthusiasm for writing and collaboration is infectious and it has been exciting to see him take that into writing rooms and really bring sessions to another level.”
For his part, Stewart comments, “I love the people at Native Tongue and their ethos to songwriting.
“It’s a community I am proud to be a part of and I feel they care about my development as an artist – not just my output.”
Slowly Slowly’s new single ‘Creature Of Habit Pt.2’ is out now via Unified.
The band’s sophomore release St. Leonards from last year included stand-out tracks as ‘Ten Leaf Clover’, ‘The Butchers Window’ and ‘Smile Lines’.
Stewart co-produces Softly Softly records with bassist Alex Quayle.
