Music Victoria’s Patrick Donovan to Chair AMIN

Music Victoria’s Patrick Donovan to Chair AMIN

PRESS RELEASE:

AMIN (Australian Music Industry Network)is pleased to announce the appointment of Patrick Donovan as its new Chair, after the resignation of QMusic’s Denise Foley, following her departure fromthat role in late 2014.

Patrick’s statement is as follows.

“I am excited to take over the chair after two years of excellent leadership from QMusic’s Denise Foley.

I will bring to AMIN the momentum built over the last four years in Victoria, which has undergone exciting legislative change including the world-first implementation of the Agent of Change planning principle and is entering a golden period with the new State Labor Government’s $40 million commitment to contemporary music, which includes a music hub, a music development office and an Australian Music Hall of Fame.

One of the things that has impressed me most since joining AMIN four years ago has been the generosity of other state members to share Information and advice around industry best practice.

All of Australia’s musician and business members work on a national scale, so it’s in all of our interests for the Australian Music Industry to be as robust as possible to allow musicians and businesses to thrive.

It’s with this collective utilitarian spirit that I visited Adelaide this week to share Victoria’s recent experiences with the South Australian Music Council around legislative reform, government relations and cutting red tape. I also visited their magnificent music hub at St Paul’s Church which houses their music development office, and learnt about the Adelaide music collective’s exciting South Australian Hall of Fame initiatives.

I look forward to working with all AMIN state and territory board members, as well as national bodies including APRA, the Live Music Office, Sounds Australia, The National Film and Sound Archive, ARIA, AIR, The Community Broadcasting Association of Australia and Music Australia, as well as national political parties in the lead up to the next federal election to achieve the best outcomes for the Australian Music Industry.”

Further information around the AMIN leadership team and its new members will be revealed in coming weeks.
