Music SA appoints new General Manager

The board of South Australia’s peak music association Music SA has appointed Lisa Bishop as its new General Manager.

The board reported, “A highly qualified executive with extensive experience in the private, public and not-for-profit sectors, Lisa brings a broad range of skills and expertise in management, HR, governance and business development to the organisation.

“Lisa has worked in diverse fields including the arts, tourism, retail and health, most recently working in film & TV, in addition to over 20 years as a company director.”

Bishop said, “There is currently unprecedented support for contemporary music in South Australia from policy makers across all levels of government. I’m thrilled to be working with the Music SA board and staff to drive positive change that capitalises on the current local and state government support, the recommendations of the Thinker’s Report and the outstanding achievements of Music SA to date.”

She takes over the role in January.

The board thanked Adelaide music identity and event manager PJ Murton for “outstanding work” over the past five months in the caretaker role of Managing Director.

“PJ’s passion and commitment to Music SA has ensured the smooth continuation of the organisation during the recruitment and transition period to a new General Manager,” the board said. “PJ will resume his position on the Music SA board from the end of the caretaker period in January.”
