MTV launches hosted countdown show, MTV Pop 20
MTV Australia has today announced a new weekly chart show, hosted by MTV VJ’s, Kate Peck and Krit.
TMN can exclusively reveal the advertisement-free show, which is Australia’s only ad-free and hosted music countdown on subscription television, will be called MTV Pop 20 and will count down the 20 “hottest and most talked about” clips of the week, every Saturday at 9am.
Essentially, the top 20 tracks will be determined each week by utilising MTV’s social media results from its Your MTV Top 20 online chart (determined by fan interaction via social and digital media), along with the tracks of the moment playing on MTV Music and MTV Dance in Australia.
Simon Bates, Director MTV Australia and New Zealand said the show’s launch is to celebrate the new availability of MTV Music and MTV Dance to every Foxtel subscriber in Australia from November 3.
“We couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate, than to create our very own locally produced chart show,” said Bates. “MTV Pop 20 will be the only hosted chart show on STV in Australia, it’s on every Saturday morning and it’s ad free.”
Produced and filmed on set at MTV HQ in Sydney, MTV Pop 20 will air on MTV Music (Channel 808 on Foxtel), MTV (Channel 124 on Foxtel) and MTV Hits in New Zealand (Channel 110 on SKY), Saturdays at 9am from October 11.
