Midnight Oil have truly transcended what it means to simply be a band. A political force to be reckoned with, the band are responsible for crafting iconic anthems that have become essentials in the national canon, targeting issues that are always at the forefront of the Australian public’s psyche.

To celebrate the honour the band’s contributions to Australian music, Midnight Oil will receive the Ted Albert award at this year’s APRA AMCOS awards. The band have a long history with APRA, placing at #3 on 2001’s list of Best Australian songs of all time.

I don’t want to say there will never be another Midnight Oil because the world will always need a band like Midnight Oil – now, more than ever.”

“Midnight Oil is proud to receive the Ted Albert Award for 2018. It’s a great honour for our band. Ted’s great skill was his knack for picking talent, his genuine love for original Australian music, and the creation of his legendary production house – which has become a by-word for excellence and success” said the band upon hearing of the honour.
