Masked Wolf’s ‘Astronaut In The Ocean’ was the most Shazamed song of 2021, globally.

Apple Music has released its end of year charts for 2021, with the Maroubra rapper’s viral TikTok smash beating out The Weeknd, Ed Sheeran and Olivia Rodrigo on the global Shazam charts.

In fact, ‘Astronaut In The Ocean’ earned 11.5 million Shazams, while the second-most Shazamed track – The Weeknd’s ‘Save Your Tears’ – earned 8.5 million.

The Kid LAROI also made a huge impact across Apple Music’s end of year charts, having the most streamed album in Australia with F*CK LOVE. The Gamilaroi rapper also earned the most Shazamed song in Australia with his collaboration with Justin Bieber, ‘Stay’.

In addition, ‘Stay’, along with LAROI’s solo efforts ‘So Done’ and ‘Without You’, all ranked in the top 25 most streamed songs in Australia throughout the year. ‘Stay’ was also the eighth most streamed song in the world, with BTS’ ‘Dynamite’ topping that chart.

Both Masked Wolf and The Kid LAROI picked up multiple nominations at this year’s ARIA awards, with the latter winning awards for ‘Best Artist’ and ‘Best Pop’.

In addition, LAROI also recently earned his first Grammy nomination for ‘Best New Artist’.
